Classroom Teachers is delighted to be working alongside a number of London boroughs providing home tutors for pupils who are currently unable to attend school.
Do you hold QTS or the equivalent? Are you looking for a role outside of the classroom?
Classroom Teachers is delighted to be working with a number of London boroughs, working with them in order to help pupils who are unable to attend school for a variety of reasons. These are typically due to: medical needs or mobility issues, social anxiety, particular complex needs or are pupils who have been excluded.
We have a record number of tutors working for us at the moment but we are always looking for more. All of our tutors are qualified teachers, holding either QTS or QTLS and are extremely experienced.
These roles have fast turnaround times — you will usually be speaking to the guardian of the pupil with 24 hours of us receiving the EHCP from the council and very often meet the pupil the following day, with the tuition starting shortly thereafter. This initial meeting with the pupil and guardian allows you to make your own assessment of the pupils learning levels but also will allow you to timetable when the tuition will take place (typically there will be 15 hours of tuition a week, all tuition needs to take place during the school day ie. between 8.30am-4pm). For example, we have tutors that do 3 hours in the mornings for five days a week and others that do 5 hours a day for three days a week. If the timing works you can have 2 students, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.
In order to start these positions you will need to be on the DBS update service or complete a new online DBS asap. If you register for this type of work, please be aware if you do not hold a DBD on the update service you may need to wait for a new DBS to come back before you can start.
As the tuition is mainly based at the pupils homes or their closest library, it is vital that you are comfortable to travel around London, although we work with you to place you with students as close as possible to you.
If you are interested in this work, please email paola@classroomteachers.co.uk or call us on 020 7636 0600. We look forward to hearing from you.
